The 20th Convocation Ceremony of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) was held on Sunday, 10th October 2021 at 11:00 am on Virtual Platform (Live from AIUB Auditorium) at the AIUB permanent campus. His Excellency Md. Abdul Hamid, Honorable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh & the Chancellor of AIUB has kindly authorized Dr. Dipu Moni, M.P., the Honorable Minister, Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to preside over the ceremony and confer the degrees to the graduating students. Mr. Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, M.P., Hon’ble Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education, was the Special Guest. The Convocation was also graced by His Excellency Robert Chatterton Dickson, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, as the Convocation Speaker of the Ceremony. The Chairman, AIUB Board of Trustees Dr. Hasanul A. Hasan and theVice Chancellorof AIUB Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna also delivered their speeches on this occasion. Ms.Nuder Nowar Nizam was the valedictorian who spoke on the occasion on behalf of the graduating students.
A total number of 2,878 graduates of Academic Years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 who have successfully completed all their academic requirements in various disciplines of the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs were conferred upon their respective degrees at the Convocation.
The following Medals were awarded in different categories to the meritorious students for their achievements and excellence in the fields of academic and co-curricular activities:

The Hon’ble Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, MP praised and thanked AIUB for its sincere role to provide quality education and playing a pioneer role to develop the country by producing quality graduates. She congratulated all the graduates who completed their degrees during the pandemic going through a difficult journey of eighteen months. Dr. Dipu Moni encouraged the graduates to have an entrepreneurial mindset. She was delighted to see the green picturesque campus of AIUB and hoped that it must been a joyful experience for the students studying here.
The Special Guest Hon’ble Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education, Mr. Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, M.P. emphasized on skill development. He said with the combination of youth, knowledge and will power can develop high quality human resources. He thanked the AIUB management and appreciated the determination of the AIUB students being able to continue their academic and extracurricular activities even during this pandemic in full swing.
The Convocation Speaker, His Excellency Robert Chatterton Dickson, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh congratulated the graduates of the 20th convocation. He talked about opportunities in academic partnerships, and research collaborations with foreign institutions. He also mentioned about gender parity, economic development of the country in the verge of LDC graduation. He said “LDC graduation is a milestone rather than a finishing line.”
Members of the Board of Trustees of AIUB, Mr. Ishtiaque Abedin, Ms Nadia Anwar, Dr. Abdus Samad Alim, Mrs. Sabrina Abedin, Ms. Dulce Lamagna Majumdar, Syndicate and Academic Council members, Deans and officials graced the ceremony. Members of the print and electronic media also attended the convocation Ceremony.
Graduates and their parents joined the program through virtual platform of Microsoft Teams, and the program was also broadcasted in AIUB official Facebook and YouTube page.
