Abstract

Bangladesh has made remarkable progress in reducing maternal and under-five child mortality rates. However, according to the 2022 BDHS report, significant disparities in healthcare services still exist between rich and poor populations, as well as across different regions. Therefore, this study uses data from the BDHS to analyze the health status of mothers and children. Through an analysis of maternal and child mortality rates from 1995 to 2024, this study evaluates the social and economic aspects of maternal and child health in Bangladesh. To examine the relationship among maternal mortality rate (MMR), child mortality rate (CMR), antenatal care coverage (ACCR), and institutional delivery rates (IDR) from 1995 to 2024. Data was collected from various online sources. Using Secondary data, this research employed a quantitative approach to explore the relationship between antenatal care coverage and institutional delivery rates with maternal and child mortality rates over 29 years. The gathered data were compiled and organized using Microsoft Excel. CMR increased by about 70% from 1995 to 1999. Again, in 2007, it dropped to 6%. It has not yet reached a stable condition. On the other hand, ACCR reached 30% in 2016, and through working on it, it was later reduced to 10%. If everything is carefully observed, it can be seen that MMR and CMR have fluctuated a lot yearly, where we need to keep our focus. According to the study's findings, lowering maternal and infant mortality in Bangladesh requires steady increases in the coverage of prenatal care and the rate of institutional deliveries. Improving access to healthcare, maternal and child health results. particularly in underprivileged areas, can encourage fair progress in the direction of long-term
