The honorable Vice Chancellor of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna who is a member of the Administrative Board of the International Association of Universities (IAU) and Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Vice President, Academics and Dean, FBA, AIUB jointly participated in the said conference. Aside from attending the Board Meeting of IAU prior to the actual Conference, she also Chaired one of the Breakout Sessions on Case Studies: Private Sector Engagement. She ably facilitated the discussion on a more professional manner observing the guidelines and decorum of the session. On the other hand, Dr. Charles was a speaker on the topic : Responsible Research. The session analyzed the different approaches and measures required in order to support linkages between research and societal development. It also discussed the challenges and opportunities related to the pursuit of responsible research.
The Theme of the International Conference: Higher Education Partnerships for Societal Impact held on 12-15 November 2018 in University of Malaya (first part) and in Pullman Hotel, Bangsar (conference proper). About 300 participants from the different parts of the globe participated and shared their valuable insights and experiences on the theme. Specifically, it laid down emphasis on a variety of issues and themes pertaining to higher education partnerships globally and how they make an important contribution to society at large. It was a gathering of topnotch university heads and officials, researchers and practitioners who made the event more challenging and inspiring. During this conference, there were some time spent for networking so that the participants can avail of the opportunity to establish partnership with their respective organizations on areas of mutual interest.
