The Department of Media and Mass Communication (MMC) of the American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) successfully organized a two-day event titled “Journeys in Motion: Welcoming Dreams, Celebrating Achievements” on Thursday, September 4 and Tuesday, 9, 2025, to welcome its freshmen and celebrate the achievements of outgoing students.
The program was graced by distinguished guests, deans, and heads of various faculties and departments. On September 4, the event began at 2:30 PM at the MMC Media Studio. Prof. Dr. A.J.M. Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan, Advisor of the MMC Department, opened the session by emphasizing AIUB’s vibrant campus life and encouraging students to make the most of their university experience. Prof. Dr. Tajul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), highlighted university life as a unique blend of joy and learning, inspiring students to work hard to achieve their goals.
Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro Vice-Chancellor of AIUB, extended a warm welcome to the new and graduating students, while Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Honorable Vice Chancellor of AIUB, delivered a motivating address urging students to study diligently and build a bright future. Ms. Shania Abedin, Member of the Board of Trustees, also encouraged the students and spoke about the importance of embracing every opportunity that AIUB offers.
Ms. Rani Ellen V. Ramos, Head of the MMC Department, delivered the vote of thanks, congratulating the outgoing students and motivating the incoming batch. A short video showcasing the MMC Department’s achievements and milestones was then screened, followed by a welcoming gesture where faculty members greeted freshmen with flowers and bid farewell to the outgoing students. A group photo captured the memorable occasion.
The event was anchored by MMC student Ms. Heeya and planned by senior faculty member Mr. Niaz Majumdar, ensuring smooth execution and an engaging atmosphere.
On September 9, the celebration concluded with a vibrant cultural program at the MMC Media Studio, featuring performances by MMC students.
Filled with joy, inspiration, and celebration, “Journeys in Motion” highlighted the strong bond between students, alumni, and faculty at AIUB while reaffirming the department’s commitment to nurturing creativity and excellence.
