Abstract

Bangladesh is facing many problems because of climate change on fisheries and aquatic biodiversity. Fishes are dying in water bodies and aquatic life is suffering. It may cause food crisis in Bangladesh. It is essential to understand the impact of climate change in fisheries and aquatic life. This study focuses on how climate change is hampering aquatic biodiversity. The objective of this research is to find the solution and how we can reduce the impacts of climate change and how we can save the fisheries and aquatic biodiversity. By saving aquatic life, it is possible to secure food crisis in Bangladesh. This study used secondary data from 2013 to 2023. Initially the data was messy and it was difficult to analyse. The data was analyzed to identify the changes in soil quality, water sustainability, climate resilience, biodiversity, crop yield. The results show that, in 2017, soil quality was 99.579 and in 2023 it decreased to 50.874. Water sustainability score was 84.208 in 2004 and decreased to 49.09 in 2023. Climate resilience ranged from 38.80(2013) to 71.16(2023). Biodiversity score gradually decreased from 79.682(2013) to 44.62 in 2023. Crop yield also decreased. It is observed that, climate change has a negative impact on water, soil, fisheries and aquatic biodiversity. Climate is changing rapidly day by day. Water quality is changing. From the research and analysis, it can be said that, step can be taken to protect fisheries & biodiversity. Future work could explore long-term data and ways to protect fisheries and biodiversity.
