Abstract
The efficiency, safety and lifetime of electric vehicle batteries carefully depend on effective thermal management. In this study a passive EV battery cooling system was designed and implemented using MATLAB/Simulink to analyze its performance under multiple operating conditions. The model uses a battery thermal subsystem, heat generation dynamics and a passive cooling mechanism to control temperature. The passive system depends on natural heat loss methods, including conduction, thermal circulation and phase change materials to control battery temperature effectively. This ensures that the system remains simple, energy efficient and cost effective. By reducing system complexity and maintenance requirements, the passive cooling approach offers a reliable solution for long- term EV battery operation. Simulation results indicate that the battery temperature is maintained within safe limits during charge- discharge cycles, heat loss is improved and system difficulty is minimized. The result further suggest that passive cooling can maintain thermal stability under different load and environmental conditions. The simulation allows observation of the heat distribution throughout the battery pack. This enables improvement of the cooling design and better understanding of battery thermal behavior. The passive cooling approach indicates potential for improving the reliability and sustainability of EV battery packs. Overall, this study focuses the important of effective thermal management in electric vehicle batteries and demonstrate that passive cooling provides a practical energy efficient and low cost, method to improve battery safety, reliability and lifespan. The findings support the implementation of passive cooling methods in next -generation EV battery system to fulfill sustainable and safe electric mobility.
