Abstract
Adolescent mental health in Bangladesh has been shaped by social, nutritional, and health service factors showing improvements in equity and access but disparities between the country. A longitudinal data was collected from the national health and nutrition reports between 1994 and 2023. Key determinants were Health Equity index, Disease Prevalence Rate, Nutritional Status Score, Access to Services and Immunization Coverage. The dataset indicates uneven improvement. The Health Equity Index advanced (0.45 to 0.90) in terms of index of inequity, also the nutritional status of the population has increased significantly by 51.3% to 95.5%. The availability of services increased by almost 2 times and immunization coverage increased by nearly 99%. These determinants nicely improved but fluctuated over the years. But disease prevalence rate decreased from 29% to slightly above 5% and then stabilized near 18% highlighting persistent in difficulties. Even though nutrition, service coverage, and equity have improved significantly but the burden of disease and gaps in rural areas indicate the necessity to employ more awareness campaigns, specific interventions, and sustainable approaches. This study aims to identify the major determinants of adolescent mental health based on the public health perspective to diminish adolescent mental health crisis.
