Abstract
Bangladesh is increasingly experiencing natural disasters, making resilience and vulnerability critical national issues. This paper examines the potential and practical applicability of robotic technologies to enhance disaster response and management under challenging environmental conditions. We analyze case studies and field trials that showcase robotic applications for search and rescue, damage assessment, and recovery in disasters such as earthquakes, cyclones, and floods. In doing so, the paper discusses key drivers influencing the readiness, acceptance, and adoption of robotics, as well as their socio-environmental benefits. The study aims to inform technologists, disaster managers, and policymakers on how robotics can be strategically applied to build resilience, protect infrastructure, and ultimately save lives. The novelty of this paper lies in its integrated assessment of region-specific disaster vulnerabilities in Bangladesh, its review of practical robotic deployments, and its proposal for a national roadmap toward long-term disaster resilience.
