Abstract

As a consequence of rapid urbanization, the overall green space in Dhaka has been steadily shrinking while temperatures continue to rise, leaving the city increasingly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Data from 1995 to 2024 indicate that although the amount of green space has fluctuated over the years, the overall trend shows a consistent decline. During this period, urban temperatures have increased alongside noticeable changes in rainwater harvesting capacity and infrastructural development activities. The primary reason for this investigation is to investigate how green foundation contributes to directing urban warmth and upgrading Dhaka’s capacity to adapt with climate alteration. This study utilized a quantitative approach to evaluate the portion of green system in upgrading urban maintainability and climate adjustment in Dhaka. Data from 1995–2024 on green space, urban temperature, water gathering, and progression projects were analyzed. Green space changed between 12–18%, ordinary urban temperature rose from 28.5°C to 32 °C. From 1995 to 2024, Dhaka’s green space declined from 18% to 12% whereas normal temperature rose from 28.5°C to 32°C. Water collecting capacity expanded up to 20% in a few ventures. The extended green framework moved forward urban temperature direction, water administration, and climate strength, highlighting the need for approaches and maintainable arranging. The examination shows that green system can successfully coordinate Dhaka’s urban temperature, move forward water collecting and strengthen the city's capacity to adjust to climate change in spite of changes in green space and rising temperatures centered on green enhancement show up to ensure in moving forward urban flexibility for supported influence utilization of clear green approaches productive land-use checking citizen engagement and integration of green plants in all advancements are principal to build a more endurable and climate-resilient Dhaka.
