Abstract

The Monsoon of Bangladesh which has important impact on agriculture, water resources is not stable anymore as the heavy rain or flood is not following a pattern so it is being hard to predict and as a result it has become a major concern. The objective of this study is to investigate monsoon variability and extreme events occurring. A secondary dataset which was collected with the quantitative data collection method reported by Bangladesh Meteorological Department, WMO, and IPCC assessments in the duration of 1995 to 2024. The quantitative data analysis method was used to analyze the dataset. The data analysis shows that Monsoon rainfall increased with time. At the same time extreme weather events can be seen and in recent years the occurrence can be seen more which indicates instability. The increasingly unstable Monsoon system which in physics point of view reflects fluctuations and the presence of nonlinear responses. These external forces in the system is causing the seasonal balance being disrupted. The patterns are the sign of climate change which signals immediate development in the disaster preparedness. and proactive planning infrastructure. This study provides useful information for the authorities regarding weather forecasts which can help to do a better plan and reduce upcoming risks.
