A Study Tour to United Ashugonj Power Limited (UAPL) Arranged by the Department of EEE

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) undertook a study tour on 5th April 2014 to Ashugonj, B-baria. United Ashuganj Power Limited (UAPL), a 100% owned company of United Group, entered into a Quick Rental Contract with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) on 23rd December, 2010 for supplying electricity to the National Grid. The power plant is comprised of 14 units of Gas Gensets of Germany, each of capacity 3.968 MW to produce electricity having a gross capacity of 55.55 MW. Natural Gas is being used as a raw material at the power plant supplied by Titas Gas Transmission & Distribution Company Limited. Study tour to observe the electricity generation & transmission and power station operation & maintenance are relevant and enrichment activities of the electrical engineering education. This time the tour was organized for the students of Power Stations course and arranged by the course teacher Ms. Humaira Salmin and Mr. Rakibul Hafiz Lecturers of EEE Dept. With the course teachers, another two faculty members Mr. Taskin Jamal and (Lecturer, EEE Dept.) and Mr. Mohammad Shafquatul Islam (Lecturer, EEE Dept.) accompanied 40 enthusiastic students in the tour.
