The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), in collaboration with Round Table Bangladesh, organized an insightful discussion session titled "Student Tourism Security" on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. Presented by Tourist Police Bangladesh, the session aimed to share crucial knowledge for ensuring safe and enjoyable student travels. Key speakers included Tr. Ejaz Mahmood Rony, Founder & Charter Chairman, Dhaka Round Table-1 & Immediate Past President, Round Table Bangladesh; Mr. Mahmudul Hasan Lecturer, Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Faculty of Business Administration, AIUB; Ms. Momena Akther, Additional Superintendent of Police, Dhaka Region, Tourist Police Bangladesh; and chief guest Md. Naimul Huq PPM, Superintendent of Police, Dhaka Region, Tourist Police Bangladesh. Topics covered tourism sector growth, university programs, police initiatives for student tourism security, and prospects like a new international airport and Marine Drive.
The session highlighted the pivotal roles played by Bangladesh Police and Tourist Police Bangladesh in safeguarding tourists. Discussions included the expansion of the tourism industry, academic programs offered by universities, law enforcement initiatives aimed at ensuring the security of student travelers, as well as future developments such as the establishment of a new international airport and the Marine Drive project. Speakers discussed leveraging technology, communication, security and community involvement to become a "Smart Tourist Police." Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor, AIUB, delivered the closing remarks, expressing gratitude and underscoring the collaboration between AIUB, Tourist Police and Round Table Bangladesh. Over 250 participants participated in the event and gained valuable insights on student tourism security and the collaborative efforts undertaken to ensure safe and enjoyable travels.
