p>Like every year, the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) arranged a daylong cultural program on 14th April 2012 at the Banani Club Field to celebrate the Bengali New Year 1419. Department of Architecture of AIUB organized a grand Boishakhi Rally where they prepared various props, masks, characters resembling the traditional Bengali culture. In the early hour the rally was led by the honorable Vice Chancellor of AIUB Dr. Carmen Z Lamagna. The rally started at 10.00 AM from Campus 7 passed by all campuses till it ended at Banani Club Field where Dr. Carmen Z Lamagna inaugurated the AIUB Boishakhi Ullash 1419. Along with the Vice Chancellor, Ms. Anette S. Galskjøt, the Commercial Counselor of Royal Danish Embassy also inaugurated the fair. The Treasurer and Founder Vice President (HRD) Dr. Hasanul A. Hasan and Founder Vice President (Public Relations & International Affairs) Mr. Ishtiaque Abedin, Director (Student Affairs) were also present on the occasion. Deans of the Faculties, teachers, students, high officials of AIUB and foreign delegates from various embassies enjoyed the celebration.
The daylong program was packed with Boul song, Band song, performances by AIUB Student Clubs. Stalls of various local traditional items and foods were setup by AIUB students. The Boishakhi mela was open for all quarters of people. Highlight of the occasion was performances of Baul Singer, LRB, Dalchut and Shunno. The AIUB Performing Arts Club (APAC) and AIUB Oratory club also staged their performances in the first part of the program.
Every year AIUB Boishaklhi Ullash is organized for students, faculty members, officials of AIUB and local neighborhood to celebrate the Bengali New Year in a colorful and befitting manner with the wholehearted support of AIUB Management.
