To celebrate World Environment Day 2026 under the theme “Restore Nature for a Sustainable Future,” the AIUB Environment Club, with support from the Department of Chemistry and facilitation from the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), organized a program on Monday, June 22, 2026. The event featured a variety of activities, including a Poster Presentation Competition, Rally and Sapling Distribution among students and club members.
The event began with a Poster Presentation Competition held at Multipurpose Hall of D-Building. The competition focused on important environmental topics such as Environmental Protection, Climate Change, Sustainability, Green Technology, and Biodiversity Conservation. The event commenced with opening remarks from Prof. Dr. S. Mosaddeq Ahmed, Head of Natural Science (Chemistry) and Mentor of the AIUB Environment Club.
The judging panel consisted of Dr. Fatema Tuz Zohra, Associate Professor of Mathematics; Dr. Jannatul Fardus, Assistant Professor of Mathematics; Dr. Md. Anisur Rahman Jamil, Assistant Professor of Chemistry; Dr. Saiful Islam, Assistant Professor of Chemistry; Dr. Sharmin Jahan, Assistant Professor of Physics; and Ms. Mst Ummay Sumaya, Lecturer of Physics. After evaluating nearly 20 team submissions, the judges selected the winners: Visionary Trio as Champion, Nature Nexus as First Runner-Up, and Nova Bloom as Second Runner-Up.
At approximately 1:15 PM, a colorful rally featuring environmental awareness placards marched across the campus to inspire students and the university community to take meaningful steps toward protecting the environment. The rally was attended by members of the AIUB Environment Club, students, administrative officers, Prof. Dr. Manzur H. Khan, Proctor, and Dr. Ziarat H. Khan, Associate Professor and Deputy Director of OSA, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahbub Rabbani of Chemistry; Dr. Md. Tariqul Islam, Associate Professor of Chemistry; Dr. Md. Anisur Rahman Jamil, Assistant Professor of Chemistry; Dr. Saiful Islam, Assistant Professor of Chemistry; Dr. Abdullah Al Nahid, Assistant Professor of Chemistry; Dr. Jahida Binte Islam, Assistant Professor of Chemistry; faculty members from various departments.
The rally ended with the sapling distribution among the participants, students and members of AIUB Environment Club. The program successfully promoted environmental awareness and reinforced AIUB’s commitment to sustainability, encouraging the university community to play an active role in building a greener and more sustainable future.
