The final match of the first ever AIUB Inter Dept. Twenty20 Cricket Tournament 2009 was held in the Gulshan Youth Club ground on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. In the final match the BBA Blues team defeated the BBA Red team by 79 runs to become the unbeaten champion in the tournament.
Score: BBA Blues team: 232 for 5 wickets in 20 Overs. Badhon 118, Rasel 70. Dedar 3 wickets.
BBA Red Team: 153 all out in 17.4 Overs. Ashik 36, Farhan 32. Rasel and Shuvo 3 wickets each.
Man of the Match: Badhon of BBA Blues team.
Player of the Tournament: Rasel of BBA Blues team.
Our honorable Founder and Vice President of Student Affairs Ms. Nadia Anwar was present during the final match and gave prizes to the players after the match. A lot of students, teachers and officers of AIUB witnessed the final match and the prize distribution ceremony.
Besides others, Mr. Abdul K. Nazmul, Coordinator, Office of Sports, Mr. Manzur H. Khan, Coordinator, Office of Student Affairs, Mr. Lutfor Rahman, Director, Public Relations, Mr. Abu Mia Akand, Senior Public Relations Officer were also present during the final match and the prize distribution ceremony.
Sakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh National Cricket team player and the number 1 all-rounder in the world was present during this final match as a special guest. Sakib is also in the process of starting his undergraduate degree program (BA in English) classes at AIUB from Summer 2009 semester.
A record number of 12 teams (the highest so far) from different departments of AIUB (including 2 Faculty/Officer teams) participated in the tournament which began on February 22, 2009.
