Sony Bangladesh entered into a strategic partnership with the AIUB Photography Club (AIUBPC) at the AIUB Auditorium on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, at the American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB). The partnership was formalized in the presence of Ms. Nadia Anwar, Founder Member and Chairman, Board of Trustees, AIUB, and Mr. Joshua Quek, Branch Head, Sony International (Singapore) Ltd., Bangladesh Branch, marking a significant step towards strengthening industry-academia collaboration in photography and visual arts.
The ceremony was also attended by Ms. Karan Sum, Regional Head of Digital Imaging, and Mr. Jonathan Poon, Digital Imaging Product Specialist, representing Sony. From AIUB, Prof. Dr. Manzur H Khan, Proctor; Dr. Ziarat H. Khan, Deputy Director, Student Services and Welfare; mentors of the AIUB Photography Club—Mr. Niaz Mojumdar, Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS); Dr. Md. Sarowar Hossain, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST); and Ms. Tasnova Jerin Ulfat, Lecturer, FASS—along with members of the Executive Committee of the AIUB Photography Club, were present at the event.
Through this partnership, AIUB Photography Club members will gain access to advanced Sony Alpha mirrorless cameras and lenses, professional mentorship, hands-on training, and valuable industry engagement opportunities. As part of the initiative, Sony Bangladesh donated more than 20 Sony Alpha mirrorless cameras and lenses to the club, providing students with access to industry-standard equipment that will enhance their practical learning experiences and creative development.
The program also featured inspiring sessions by AIUB Photography Club alumni Fahim M. Islam and Sohel Mahmud, as well as Jubair Ahmed Arnob, Documentary Photographer, Researcher, and Sony World Photography Awards (SWPA) Student Winner 2025. The speakers shared their professional experiences and encouraged students to pursue excellence in photography through continuous learning, creativity, and innovation.
As part of this collaboration, the club will now be recognized as "AIUB Photography Club Powered by Sony." The partnership marks a new milestone in AIUB's commitment to nurturing creative talent by connecting students with industry leaders, cutting-edge technology, and professional learning opportunities, empowering the next generation of visual storytellers.
