The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) has reached a remarkable milestone by securing the top position globally in the second phase of the 9th Annual SDG Teach-In 2026, an international sustainability education initiative led by Students Organising for Sustainability UK. This achievement highlights AIUB’s growing leadership in embedding sustainability and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into higher education.

The SDG Teach-In, held from 1–31 March 2026, encourages educators across the world to integrate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into teaching, learning, training, and engagement activities. The initiative brings together institutions from early education to higher education to promote sustainability, social responsibility, and global citizenship through education.

As of 17 March 2026, AIUB ranked 1st worldwide in both key categories, “Top 10 Institutions (Educators Pledged)” and “Learners Reached (in proportion to institutional size).” The university surpassed renowned global institutions such as Birmingham City University, University of Exeter, and De Montfort University, demonstrating its strong commitment to sustainability-focused teaching and active student engagement.

This outstanding accomplishment builds on AIUB’s earlier recognition in the initial phase of the Teach-In and reflects the dedicated efforts of its faculty members and the effective coordination by the AIUB’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). AIUB’s ongoing participation in global initiatives such as Responsible Futures International, delivered in collaboration with the International Association of Universities, further reinforces its commitment to responsible education and institutional sustainability.

AIUB extends its heartfelt congratulations and sincere appreciation to all participating faculty members for their invaluable contributions. The university also acknowledges the support of its students and stakeholders, whose collective efforts have made this global achievement possible. AIUB remains committed to advancing sustainability education and continuing its active role in shaping a more responsible and inclusive academic future.
