On 29th March 2019 the Department of Law, AIUB conducted a court visit at Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Dhaka for understanding the practical experiences on different stages of a criminal case. A group of 30 students with a faculty member of AIUB visited the court. The team was led by Mr. Md. Khalid Rahman (Assistant Professor, Department of Law, AIUB). The team departed from the Permanent campus at Kuril at 8:00 a.m. and the tour bus reached the CMM Court around 10:00 a.m.
Students were received by the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mr. Keshob Roy Chowdhury at the respective court room. After the reception, the honorable Magistrate Mr. Chowdhury gave some instructions about the court room manner to the students. Then, the students were divided into three groups and sent to three different court rooms. During the court proceedings students had experienced different stages of criminal case practically. After the court proceeding, the honorable Magistrate Mr. Chowdhury answered different enquiries of students on different legal and practical grounds.
After the Q&A session, the honorable Magistrate Mr. Chowdhury along with the course teacher Mr. Rahman and the students visited different parts of the CMM court. They visited GR section, the evidence collection section and the court prison with the prior permission of the court.
