Any kind of award or recognition is the inspiration for anyone who did any type of skill or hard work. And if it is for international level of coverage then it will be more effective. Yes, we are talking about “Duke of Edinburgh’s Award” which contributes to the transformation of young people over the world. This award is given for self motivation, self contribution and higher level of confidence to serve to the nation according to their ability.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Foundation, Bangladesh held its 2nd award ceremony at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka on April 18, 2010. On this occasion, 480 awardees from 13 educational institutions were recognized for successfully completing the requirements of the Bronze and Silver award and thus proving their inner worthiness as more competent individuals by pursuing the activities and complying with the requirements of the award. Professor Dr Alauddin Ahmed Advisor for Education, Social Development and Political Affairs to the Prime Minister was present as the chief guest and Stephen Evans, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh was present as special guest at the event. The occasion was hosted by Jim McCabe, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and overall the program was graced by the members of the Board of Trustees, the National Director of the Award, Vice Chancellors, and Coordinators of participating institutions, award leaders, renowned personalities and representatives from media. There was also a certificate giving ceremony held to the awardees within their own institutions.
From American International University -Bangladesh (AIUB) total 19 students achieved that prestigious award. Among them 9 students got Bronze award and 10 students got Silver award which is really a great achievement to the awardees as well as the university authorities.
