On November 6, 2024, the Department of Economics within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) at AIUB hosted a lively Freshmen Reception for the Fall 2024-2025 semester at AIUB’s Media Studio, welcoming the newest students of the Economics Department. The Freshmen Reception was organized to warmly welcome new students to the department, fostering a sense of community and belonging. It provided an opportunity for freshmen to meet faculty members, department heads, senior students, and other key figures who will be part of their academic journey. The event also introduced the freshmen to departmental resources, clubs, and activities they can participate in.
Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean of FASS, honored the event with his presence. The program began with a warm welcome from Ms. Farhana Rafiq, Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics and Mentor of the AIUB Economics Club. Dr. Faria Sultana, Head of the Economics Department, along with distinguished faculty members, attended the event, joined by other departmental heads and faculty to support the incoming students.
The reception concluded with an entertaining cultural show, where students shared their talents in a variety of performances. The cultural show showcased the diverse talents of students through performances like music, dance and drama. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement and set the tone for a dynamic academic journey ahead for these future economists.
