To inspire and to motivate the young ideas and dynamic innovations in energy industry of Bangladesh, Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources hosted a three days long eventful occasion named “Power & Energy Hackathon 2018”, where they have appraised a unique platform named “INNOVATION EXPO” to showcase dynamic and eminent innovations that can give new dimensions to the energy industry of Bangladesh. “Power & Energy Hackathon 2018” was held at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) with the theme of “Anirban Agami”. The great bout started from 6th September, 2018 and the conclusion was commenced on 8th September, 2018. The grand inauguration was commenced by honorable Prime Minister of People’s Republic Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina. Among different sessions, under “INNOVATION EXPO”, around 22 Groups participated to apprise their innovative projects and finally among them 3 groups were acknowledged and awarded for them distinguish ideas and magnificent demonstration. It’s a matter of great pride and immense honor that, Apu Saha, Somnath Misra, Md. Nazmul Hasan, Md. Ashik Aslam (Student, Department of EEE, AIUB) acquired 2nd runner up position among the top three groups for their great project work named “Design and Implementation of Intelligent Switching and Real Time Monitoring of Hybrid Solar System”. The project work was progressed and compassed under the guidance and supervision of M.S. Muhit (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB). This project work exhibited a commendable level of innovation where they provided a remarkable solution for surplus power of solar system. By using this technology, it is possible to minimize the dependency on grid electricity by realizing the renewable sources. It also gives the notion of reducing the electricity bills. The project work, as whole, gave an impressive and exceptional impact on the betterment of the society. The members of the 2nd runner up group expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Department of EEE, AIUB for giving them the opportunity to explore their creation. This momentous occasion was graced with the precious presence of Mr. Abul Maal Abdul Muhith (Finance Minister of Post, heads the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Bangladesh) along with Mr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury (energy adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh), Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus (Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources as Secretary), graced the event with their distinguished presence.
