Overview on FBA Academic Partnerships and MOU

To promote inter-entity cooperation, Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), AIUB signed partnership agreement and Memorandum of Understanding  (MoU) with different educational institutions, commercial organizations, and professional bodies. The results of such initiatives are very positive and far-reaching, with an expectation to accelerate the cooperation in teaching and research, exchange of academics and students, and partnerships in different academic projects. These MoUs facilitate the students, staffs, and faculty members with a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, the development of skills and expertise, course waiver in professional degrees, etc. Some of the notable MoUs are with:

  1. The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
  2. Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF)
  3. Bangladesh Society of Human Resource Management (PGDHRM program)
  4. The City Bank Limited (City-Alo Certification Program)
  5. Huawei Technologies Limited (ICT Academy at AIUB)
  6. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB)
  7. Katalyst Project by Swisscontact, and Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA)
  • The courses of PGDHRM will cover various aspects of HRM to help students understand the different leadership patterns that an organization has adopted from planning to implement various strategies that match with the goals of the organization. It will help students learn new human resources techniques and innovations. Management of human resources is the foundation of all the organizations. This fits with the requirements for manpower for both present and future needs. The program includes learning through practical work, case studies, industry interface, comprehensive exam, and project work covering various areas of human resource management. Students will gain a thorough understanding of both the administrative and behavioral aspects from offered courses. It prepares them to learn different perspectives for their future role. It will also help them become better professionals because the role of human resource management is similar in an organization for every other management function. 

Department of Management and Human resource management of AIUB also partners with the BSHRM (Bangladesh Society of Human Resource Management), a leading professional HR association of Bangladesh assist business and industry in providing advanced management systems and professional quality programs courses.

The PGDHRM course covers various aspects of HRM to help students---

  • To understand the different management trends that an organization has followed from planning to executing various strategies that align with the goals of the organization. 
  • To learn new human resource strategies and technologies. 
  • To aware of the needs of the rapidly growing and changing environment and practices of Human Resource. 
  • “City-Alo Certification Program” is jointly organized by The City Bank Limited, and American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) to increase the business skills of women entrepreneurs. After the successful completion of the first batch, the registration for the second batch is ongoing. The course is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of women entrepreneurs focusing various aspects of SME Business, like, formation of Business, planning, marketing, finance, bookkeeping.

The program was created by the FBA faculty to support women in their entrepreneurial efforts, particularly in acquiring knowledge and enhancing skills for starting a company, managing an existing business, or scaling up an existing business. The participant will be better able to search for and take advantage of the most appropriate opportunities because the course employs a variety of techniques.

  • To promote knowledge sharing and fostering extensive hands-on training on futuristic technologies for their students, the American International University - Bangladesh (AIUB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the localized leading global ICT solutions provider, Huawei Technologies Limited, at AIUB campus. The amin of this MoU is to create an ICT Academy at AIUB to facilitate the country’s ICT ecosystem and create opportunities for the students by developing their industry-oriented knowledge and ICT skills.

This ICT Academy is designed to equip students with advanced ICT knowledge and necessary skills for the future. Huawei will provide its enriched online learning platform with diversified courses to the students of AIUB. Teachers for AIUB will also get the opportunity to become Huawei-certified trainers at this academy and they will be able to provide training to the students afterwards.

It is mentionable that Huawei initiated ICT Academy, an Industry- academia cooperation project, back in 2013. At the moment, there are 1,500 such ICT academies run by Huawei in more than 90 countries around the world, including the UK, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines. In total, 927 colleges and universities are involved in this initiative, benefitting thousands of learners from around the globe. There are also some ICT academies in other universities in Bangladesh.

  • The Agri-Business for Trade Competitiveness Project (ATC-P), branded as “Kataylst” who promotes the rural market development in Bangladesh, implemented by Swisscontact and funded by UK AID, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC and Embassy of Denmark, DANIDA, the International Development Cooperation with collaboration with Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), AIUB jointly launched the ‘Rural Marketing’ course in the year 2009, the first-time-ever of such course offering in Bangladesh.

Since launching the course in the Undergraduate (BBA) and Graduate (MBA) programs under the Department of Marketing, FBA, AIUB, the course has successfully developed and delivered rural market insights and strategies from the Bangladesh market perspective among the students. Nowadays, agro-processing has become a critical source for alleviating rural people's poverty by offering rural employment. But, on the other hand, urban consumers are becoming more concerned about tracing the origin of their food source and hence, trying to make a connection between safer food and better health. Moreover, agro-based products are one of the potential contributors to the country’s economy.

Considering the market trend, to enhance the knowledge and skills of the students for the job market, the Department of Marketing, Faculty of Business Administration, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), in collaboration with Agri-Business for Trade Competitiveness Project (ATC-P), introduced two more new marketing courses, titled ‘Agro-based Product Marketing’ and ‘Product Innovation and Management,’ at the undergraduate level in November 2016, which was officially implemented in May 2017

Launching these three courses in academia provided extensive and ample opportunities for the students to learn and apply the different marketing dimensions and gather substantial knowledge of rural and agro-based product markets in Bangladesh.
