The first-ever Semiconductor Symposium in Bangladesh was held at the National Science and Technology Complex on July 17, 2025. This symposium was unique as academicians, local industry stalwarts, and leaders of the top global tech companies came together to discuss the status and prospects of the semiconductor field in Bangladesh. A panel discussion titled Semiconductor Talent Force was held in the morning session. Dr. Shahriyar Masud Rizvi, Deputy Director, Center for VLSI and Embedded Systems, Dr. Anwarul Abedin Institute of Innovation, Associate Professor, Department of EEE, AIUB, participated in the discussion as one of the panelists.
The panel included eminent academicians, including Dr. Saleh Naqib, Professor and Vice Chancellor, University of Rajshahi, Dr. Muhammad Rezwan Khan, Professor and Former Vice Chancellor, United International University, Major General Nasim Parvez, Commandant, Military Institute of Science and Technology, Dr. ABM Harun Ur Rashid, Professor and Chair, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Dept. BUET and Dr. Touhidur Rahman, Professor, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, BRAC University.
The panel was moderated by Dr. Muhammad Anisuzzaman Talukder, Professor, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, BUET. The panel discussions were reviewed by Dr. Nafisa Noor, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, North South University, and Mr. Kazi Aousafur Rahman, CEO, Fusion Semiconductors. The panelists presented the strengths of their institutions and proposed steps to prepare students for the global semiconductor industry.
