On Thursday, July 30, 2026, the University organized a Faculty Training on Outcome-Based Education (OBE): Course File Preparation at the AIUB Auditorium, D Building (Ground Floor) from 2:15 PM to 4:00 PM. The training session was conducted by Ms. Susmita Ghosh, Additional Director, AIUB-IQAC, with the objective of enhancing faculty members' understanding of Outcome-Based Education practices and equipping them with the knowledge required to prepare comprehensive OBE course files.

The session commenced with an overview of the fundamental concepts of Outcome-Based Education, emphasizing the distinction between educational objectives and measurable learning outcomes. Participants were introduced to the principles of developing SMART outcomes and the relationships among Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), and Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs). The workshop also highlighted the essential stages of the OBE implementation process, including mapping, assessment, attainment, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).

A significant portion of the training focused on the preparation of OBE course files, demonstrating how course documentation serves as evidence of effective curriculum implementation and quality assurance. Faculty members were guided through the essential components of a complete course file, including course outlines, lesson plans, CLO-PLO mapping, assessment strategies, assessment tools, rubrics, attainment reports, course evaluations, sample evidence, CQI action plans, grade distributions, and attendance records.

The workshop further provided practical demonstrations on preparing CLO-PLO mapping, designing assessment strategies aligned with learning outcomes, developing outcome-based assessment tools and rubrics, and documenting attainment results. Participants also explored the integration of graduate attributes, knowledge profiles, complex engineering problem-solving, and engineering activities into course planning to ensure compliance with accreditation requirements. Real-world examples and sample course files were presented to illustrate best practices in OBE implementation.

The concluding session emphasized the importance of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) through systematic analysis of attainment data and course evaluation results. Faculty members discussed strategies for identifying areas of improvement, preparing section-wise and overall course review reports, and implementing evidence-based action plans to enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes.

The interactive training provided faculty members with practical knowledge and hands-on guidance for preparing high-quality OBE course files while reinforcing the University's commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, and continuous improvement in teaching and learning practices. The session is expected to further strengthen the effective implementation of Outcome-Based Education across academic programs and support the University's ongoing accreditation and quality enhancement initiatives.
