Usability Testing of E-Government applications.

Over the past few years, the Digital Bangladesh efforts of the Government of Bangladesh produced thousands of Govt. websites, services, Access to Information opportunities. All the Govt. agencies are having a substantial transition not only in information domain, but also on financial transactions for different services. While the websites are increasing day-by-day, users of different background and levels are also increasing. If the websites meet the demand of the users, then the efforts of the Government would be even more successful. With this backdrop, Usability Testing is a method of evaluating a software e.g., a website via the User Experience or Heuristic Experience. Component Specific Web Usability Testing is a type of Web Usability, where a website is considered as a combination of a group of finite and assessable components by the users. In this study, we would take test case E-Govt. website of Bangladesh and apply Component Specific Web Usability Testing to evaluate an existing website and show the results via the testing for improvement. Both ‘expert evaluators’ for improvement of website quality and ‘common user evaluators’ for ease of use would be used for a holistic approach. The methods proposed here can be applied as a FRAMEWORK for improvement option for the Websites of Bangladesh Government for better user experience that would increase the use of websites for different services and thereby enhance efficiency of services rendered to the public.
