| With an aim to encourage students for programming “Freshmen programming Contest Spring 2009” was held on 8th May, 2009 in Campus 4, AIUB. Professor Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Science, AIUB, inaugurated the event at 10AM. The participants were freshmen students of PL1 course. The enthusiasm among the students as well as the faculty members was awesome. Persuaded by this, Professor Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain announced prize money of Tk. 20,000 to encourage the participating students.
The contest was two hours long and the teams had to solve a set of computer programming problems. A total of 36 students participated in the event. Two students solved three problems out of five, whereas two problems were solved by five students and many others solving one problem.
The prize giving ceremony was held on 4th June, 2009. Dr. Anwarul Abedin, Chairman, AIUB was present as chief guest in the ceremony. The honorable Chairman awarded the prize money to the top ranked five students. The top ranked ten students also received certificates and AIUB gift packs. The overall event was coordinated by Md. Farhad Ahmed of the department of CS.
