Marketing Students’ Organization Visit to Polar Ice Cream Factory
The Department of Marketing, Faculty of Business Administration arranged an Organization Visit to Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Ltd. (Polar Ice Cream Factory), Tejgaon I/A, Dhaka on March 13, 2014. Students from the Marketing Major courses of ‘Sales Management’ and ‘Brand & Product Management’ were taken to visit the Organization. Mr. Stanley Rodrick, Assistant Professor, and Mr. Hamidul Islam, Assistant Professor from the Department of Marketing jointly organized & facilitated the trip in co-ordination with Mr. Zobair Shibli, Head, Department of Marketing. They were accompanied by Mr. Mahmud Habib Zaman, Assistant Professor, of the same Department. Upon the arrival at the Factory premise, Mr. Md. Shariful Islam, Manager – HR & Compliance, Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Ltd. greeted the students and the Faculty Members. The students were divided into two groups and on rotation basis were briefed about the Organizational Profile, Products Information, Supply Chain and Marketing process, etc. After the formal briefing, the students were taken to visit the Production Plant. Factory Supervisors were present to guide and brief the students about the total manufacturing process including Water Treatment Plant, Mixing Unit, Pasteurization Unit, Reserver Tanker Unit, Filling/Dozing Unit and Hardening Tunnel Unit of different Ice Cream lines such as Lolly & Sticks, Litre Boxes, Cups, Cones and others. The students were then taken to the Packaging, Labeling division and the Research & Development division of Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Ltd. At the final stage, the students were taken to visit the Central Storage area to show the preservation system of Ice Creams and were briefed about the outbound shipment arrangements which included their special transports to deliver the Ice Creams to the various Depots, Dealer Points and Retail Stores located in different parts of the country. Upon the completion of the Factory Visit, Mr. Md. Mizanoor Rahman, Head of Sales & Distribution, explained the students about the Sales & Distribution Strategies of Polar Ice Cream. After that, Mr. Md. Taufiqur Rahman, Chief Operating Officer, Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Ltd. appreciated the students and the Faculty Members for visiting the organization. The Faculty Members then offered their Vote of Thanks to the distinguished Officials of Polar Ice Cream and presented them with Gift Boxes respectively on behalf of AIUB. At the end, the students and the Faculty Members were offered refreshment with Ice Creams of different categories and flavors.
