The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) had the honor of welcoming Dr. Aleksandr Voninski, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global) of the University of Newcastle, Australia, to its campus on 28 September 2025. Dr. Voninski was accompanied by a distinguished delegation that included Mr. Mostafizur Rahman, Senior Director – Trade & Investment, Australian High Commission in Bangladesh; Mr. Antony Joseph, Regional Director – South Asia, Academic Division, Future Students (International), University of Newcastle, Australia; and Md. Yousuf, Regional Manager, Bangladesh, Future Students (International), University of Newcastle, Australia. The delegation engaged in a fruitful meeting with key representatives of AIUB, including Mr. Ishtiaque Abedin, Founder Member, Board of Trustees, AIUB, and Secretary General, Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB); Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor, AIUB; Prof. Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Treasurer, AIUB; Group Captain (Retd.) Dr. Mohammad Zahidul Islam Khan, Registrar, AIUB; Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Advisor and Dean-in-Charge, Faculty of Business Administration, AIUB; and Prof. Dr. S. A. M. Manzur H. Khan, Proctor, AIUB. Also, present were Mr. Abu Mia Akanda Tuhin, Head of Public Relations, AIUB; Major (Retd.) Faiz-Ul-Bari Rajon, Deputy Director, Administration, AIUB; and Mr. Saadi Islam, Public Relations Officer, AIUB. The discussions focused on exploring opportunities for future academic collaboration between AIUB and the University of Newcastle, Australia. Key areas of interest included student mobility, faculty engagement, and research exchange, with a shared vision of fostering greater global academic cooperation and expanding higher education opportunities for students in Bangladesh. This visit marks a significant step toward building a strong partnership between the two universities, paving the way for impactful collaborations that will benefit both institutions and their communities.
