21ST February has always marked a special place in the hearts of every Bangladeshi. And it has been no different for the members of the AIUB Family. A tradition of pride, inducted by the Office of Student Affairs [OSA], lead the AIUB student clubs to gather at the ‘Polashir Mor’ at dawn and march towards the ‘Shaheed Minar’ on the 21st of February 2015, to pay their respects to the great martyrs of our Language Movement. The students were joined by the Deputy Director of OSA, Mr. Ziarat H. Khan, the Special Assistants of OSA, Ms. Shama Islam and Mr. Akram Hossain Chowdhury, along with a faculty member from the School of Natural Science, Dr. Humayra Ferdous, and the Junior Executive of OSA Mr. Rakibul Alam Polok. Adorned with venerating banners and different letters of the Bengali Language painted red, white, and black by the AIUB Art Club, the procession carried a wreath of flowers to honor the brave lives that were lost all those years ago. This day not only marks the ‘Shaheed Dibosh’ for Bangladesh today, but is acknowledged as the International Language Movement Day by millions across the world.
