Thursday, July 31, 2025, AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES) organized a seminar titled “AI and Engineering Excellence – A Path Forward for Students.” at the Multipurpose Hall, D-Building, AIUB. The colloquium featured Dr. Muhammad Firoz Mridha (Professor, Member [Research & Publication Steering Committee]

Department of Computer Science, AIUB) as an esteemed speaker.

One of the seminar’s key discussions centered on Dr. Muhammad Firoz Mridha’s analogy comparing AI to salt, an invisible yet essential force enhancing modern technology across sectors like healthcare, finance, and education, demonstrating how AI hardware integrations such as Apple's Neural Engine and Google's TPU chips are revolutionizing on-device processing capabilities. The session highlighted AI’s role in augmenting human expertise, with career pathways spanning ML engineering and AI ethics, alongside research opportunities in natural language processing and medical imaging. Through comparative examples, attendees observed the dramatic efficiency gains AI brings to tasks that previously required manual effort. The seminar concluded with an interactive Q/A session, where the speaker encouraged students to explore AI research opportunities while considering ethical implications, thanking all participants for their engagement.

Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan (Professor & Associate Dean [FE], AIUB) concluded the session by presenting a crest to Dr. Muhammad Firoz Mridha. The seminar ended with a group photograph, capturing all attendees' collaborative spirit and insights.
