The Department of Marketing, Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), AIUB has organized a seminar on “Epidemiology and Antimicrobial Resistance of Salmonella Typhi and Paratyphi – Possible impact of Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine” under the banner of Masters in Public Health, Faculty of Arts and Social science (FASS), AIUB.
The seminar was held on 17th ofth February, 2018 in Annex 2 of AIUB Campus from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. The target audience of the seminar was the students pursuing their degree in – Masters in Public Health (MPH). To enhance the students’ academic learning, Prof. Dr. Samir Kumar Saha, Professor of Microbiology; Head, Diagnostic Division; Bangladesh Institute of Child Health, Dhaka Shishu Hospital, Executive Director, Child Health Research Foundation. Mr. Saha gave an informative speech on valuable expertise on Epidemiology and Antimicrobial Resistance of Salmonella Typhi and Paratyphi and also shared his international award receiving experiences in the field of microbiology. He has a rich professional background and is the key personality of the successful implementation of typhi and paratyphi vaccination in Bangladesh.
During the seminar, Dr. Saha presented an overview on the Epidemiology and Antimicrobial Resistance of Salmonella Typhi and Paratyphi vaccination in national and international arena. The highlight of the session was presenting some case studies on successful implementation of Typhi and Paratyphi Vaccination in Bangladesh. . The seminar was indeed a fruitful knowledge sharing platform that was followed by a question-answer session from the participating students. The seminar started with welcome speech by Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean, FASS and concluded with a vote of thanks to the Guest Speaker given by Dr. Neaz Ahmed, Advisor MPH Program, FASS. In order to appreciate such seminar on academic-industry collaboration, Dr. Saha was provided with a Certificate and token of appreciation by Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean, FASS, Dr. Neaz Ahmed, Advisor MPH Program, FASS and Dr. Md. Mohiuddin, Associate Prof., IBA, Dhaka University . The seminar was also graced by the precious presence of Prof. Dr. K.C Bhyian, Dr. Abu Jamil Faisal, Dr. Jahir Uddin, Faculty member of Masters in Public Health and Ashiquzzaman, Teachers Assistant, FBA, AIUB.
