On December 19, 2024, Faculty of Engineering (FE) organized seminars on “Safety of Intended Functionality and Implications on Highly Automated Driving” & “From DSP to AI: Adaptive Filtering using Neural Networks” supported by AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES). These significant seminars were held in Building-D, Auditorium. The event commenced with a warm welcome by Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam (Vice-Chancellor, American International University-Bangladesh, AIUB) who not only extended greetings to the speakers and attendees but also delivered an inspiring opening speech. The address set the tone for an engaging and insightful session.
The seminar had two distinguished speakers. The first speaker, Dr. Rolf Jung, Prof. at Kempton University of Applied Sciences delivered a speech on the topic “Safety of Intended Functionality and Implications on Highly Automated Driving,” where he focuses on advancing driving simulation, autonomous systems, and connected mobility. Followed by the second speaker, Mr. Max Georg Fend, Professional Signal Processing Engineer’s insightful presentation on “From DSP to AI: Adaptive Filtering using Neural Networks,” where he explores the evolution from traditional Digital Signal Processing (DSP) techniques to Artificial Intelligence (AI) based signal processing. Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman (Pro-Vice Chancellor, American International University-Bangladesh, AIUB) along with many respected faculty members were also present during the seminar. A brief question & answer session allowed attendees to interact and clarify key concepts.
Prof. Dr. ABM. Siddique Hossain (Professor and Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) concluded the session with thoughtful and encouraging remarks, summarizing the significance of the topics discussed and emphasizing the importance of such discussions in fostering innovation and learning. Ms. Eva (An Alumna of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Department, American International University-Bangladesh, AIUB) shared her valuable words, inspiring the audience further. The event concluded with tokens of appreciation presented by Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Prof. Dr. ABM. Siddique Hossain to the esteemed speakers and valuable guests, followed by a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
