The Office of Placement & Alumni (OPA), AIUB, in collaboration with the AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES), organized a career-focused session titled “Recruiter’s Perspective: What Makes an EEE Graduate Stand Out” on 23 August 2026 at the Media Studio, Level 01, Annex 09. The session brought together EEE students, internship-enrolled students, and alumni to provide practical insights into industry expectations, technical competencies, recruitment practices, and the professional qualities required to succeed in today’s competitive job market.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan, Professor and Director, Faculty of Engineering (FE), AIUB. He emphasized the importance of connecting academic learning with real-world industry requirements and encouraged students to continuously develop their technical and professional competencies to remain prepared for the evolving demands of the engineering sector.

Following the welcome remarks, Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Professor, AIUB, addressed the participants. He highlighted the importance of developing well-rounded graduates with strong academic foundations, practical skills, adaptability, and professionalism, and encouraged students to actively engage in industry-focused initiatives to gain a clearer understanding of workplace expectations and future career opportunities.

The first session focused on the technical and industry perspective and was conducted by Mr. Tanjil Ahmed, Deputy General Manager and Head of Technology Strategy, Summit Communications Limited. With more than 16 years of professional experience in telecommunications, network operations, transmission systems, technology strategy, and digital infrastructure, he shared valuable insights into the evolving technological landscape and the competencies expected from aspiring engineers. He discussed network modernization, capacity planning, 5G readiness, data center and cloud readiness, submarine cable systems, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies, emphasizing strong technical foundations, practical problem-solving, adaptability, and continuous learning.

The second session focused on recruitment and HR perspective, delivered by Mr. Md. Asif Hossain, SHRM-CP, Chief Human Resources Officer, Summit Communications Limited. With more than 18 years of experience in human resources, talent acquisition, organizational development, performance management, and HR transformation, he provided practical insights into recruitment processes and employer expectations. He highlighted the qualities that help an EEE graduate stand out beyond academic qualifications, including technical competence, communication skills, problem-solving ability, teamwork, adaptability, professionalism, and a strong learning mindset. He also shared guidance on CV preparation, interviews, career planning, and developing professional competencies for a competitive job market.

An interactive Q&A session followed the presentations, allowing students, interns, and alumni to engage directly with the speakers. Participants raised questions on technical skill development, recruitment processes, internships, CVs, interviews, career preparation, and industry expectations, making the session an engaging platform for knowledge sharing and professional interaction.

The program was further enriched by the remarks of Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Professor and Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering (FE), AIUB. He emphasized the importance of transforming academic knowledge into practical capabilities and encouraged students to continuously strengthen their technical expertise and professional skills through learning, practice, and industry engagement.

The event concluded with closing remarks by Mr. Md. Javed Tariq, Director, Office of Placement & Alumni (OPA), AIUB. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the distinguished speakers and Summit Communications Limited for their valuable contribution and for facilitating meaningful industry-academia engagement.
