The Joy Bangla Youth award is a prestigious award to acknowledge the untold stories and contributions of youngsters all over the country in a vast array of fields. On 2nd May 2015, Center for Research and Information, the Secretariat of Young Bangla’ organized this ceremony at the Krishibid Institution, Farmgate, Dhaka. The top 30 youth champions (out of 1469) finally received the ‘Joy Bangla Youth Award’ from Mr. Sajeeb Wazed Joy (ICT advisor to the Prime Minister). In the Research and Innovation category, total 3 innovators were awarded at the ceremony for their wonderful innovations which left a big contribution for the disable peoples. Among them one of the winner is student of MEEE, AIUB & alumni of Department of EEE, named Mr. Safayet Ahmed who got the ‘Joy Bangla Youth Award’ for his contribution towards the speech impaired community by inventing a device name “SPEAK UP” which he did this under the supervision of Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan, (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering & Special Assistant, OSA, AIUB). This device helps the speech impaired people to communicate with others easily. A laptop was also awarded to Mr. Safayet Ahmed for his outstanding innovation. The whole event was graceful with the presence of the ministers and representatives of government institutions such as Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak (State Minister, ICT Division), Mr. Md. Shahriar Alam (State Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Ms. Meher Afroz Chumki, (State Minister, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs), Mr. Abul Kalam Azad (Principal Secretary, Government of Bangladesh), Ms. Nasima Begum (Secretary, Ministry of Social Welfare), Mr. Gazi Nurul Kabir (Director General, Department of Social Services, Ministry of Social Welfare), Mr. Anwarul Karim (Director General, Department of Youth Development, Ministry of Youth And Sports), Ms. Aroma Dutta (PRIP Trust), Mr. MA Arafat (Chairman, Suchinta Foundation).
