On Thursday, May 30,2026, The FE Department of American International University-Bangladesh organized an industrial visit to the Air Traffic Management Center (ATMC) of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to real-world air traffic management and aviation systems.

The visit was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir (Associate Professor, Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering) and Dr. Mohammad Khurshed Alam (Associate Professor, Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering), whose guidance contributed to a well-organized and informative experience.

Permission for the visit was graciously facilitated by Air Commodore Md. Noor-e-Alam (afwc, psc, ATC, Member (ATM), CAAB) and Group Captain S M Ragib Samad (psc, GD(P), Executive Director, HSIA), both of whom extended their kind support in making the visit possible. The entire visit was coordinated and guided by Mr. A K M Saiduzzaman (Director (ATM: SATO), CAAB). The programme commenced with a structured technical presentation delivered by Mr. Iffat Mahmud (CNS Engineer), Engr. Md. Rezaul Karim (Assistant Director, CNS), and Mr. Kazi Samsul Alam (Assistant Director, CNS), covering critical topics including Primary and Secondary Surveillance Radar systems, Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) technology, HF/VHF communication systems, and prevailing navigation aids such as ILS, VOR/DME, and GNSS. Subsequently, the delegation was given a supervised tour of the communication equipment room, where all newly installed CNS equipment, through which air traffic across the entire airspace of Bangladesh is managed, was observed under the direct supervision of CAAB officials.

The visit culminated in exclusive access to the top floor of the ATC Tower, a highly secured operational zone, where the students witnessed live air traffic control operations within HSIA airspace in real time. The visit provided the students with invaluable practical insight into the application of advanced communication, navigation, and surveillance technologies in a mission-critical, professionally managed aviation environment, significantly enriching their academic and professional outlook.

The session helped students understand different stages of air traffic control, including Tower Control, Approach Control, and Area Control. An interactive discussion followed, allowing students to engage with professionals and clarify their queries.

As a gesture of appreciation, tokens of gifts were presented to the officials of the CNS Division in recognition of their valuable contribution. The event concluded with closing remarks and a group photograph marking the successful completion of the visit.
