The Department of Mathematics at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) successfully hosted a Team Building Workshop on 30th July 2025, aiming to initiate the university’s participation in the National Undergraduate Mathematics Olympiad (NUMO) 2025.
The program was presided over by Dr. M. Mostafizur Rahman, Head of the Department of Mathematics, while the technical session was conducted by Mr. Pratyya Ghosh, Lecturer, Department of Mathematics, AIUB. The workshop drew an impressive turnout of around 200 students from various academic backgrounds, showcasing keen interest in mathematical competitions.
The session provided students with comprehensive insights into the structure and scope of the Olympiad, covering the modality of the competition, selection process, exam procedures, and the training and mentorship plan.
The core objective of the workshop was to initiate the formation of Team AIUB, which will represent the university in NUMO 2025. A group of enthusiastic and capable students will be selected for an intensive three-month training and mentoring program to prepare for both regional and national levels of the Olympiad.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Professor Dr. Madhabi Islam, Convener of the NUMO 2024 (Dhaka North Region), who praised AIUB’s proactive role in nurturing mathematical talent.
The Department of Mathematics extends heartfelt appreciation to all faculty members, organizers, and students for their active participation and support. This initiative marks a promising step toward empowering AIUB’s future representatives in national mathematical arenas.
