On 23rd August, 2017, IEEE AIUB Student Branch Women in Engineering Chapter successfully organized a seminar on “TechBeez: Women in ICT Competition” at room number 2209, Annex 2, AIUB. The seminar was an initiative to encourage women to participate in an upcoming competition which is based on innovative tech based ideas.
The keynote speakers of the event were Ms. Sadia Alam, Junior Associate, EMK Maker Lab, and Ms. Farhana Yasmin, Creative Associate, EMK Maker Lab. They initiated their session by briefing about the rules and regulations of the upcoming competition which includes competition prize money, idea submission category, and team member eligibility. Later they discussed their experience in working for women empowerment in the engineering sector. They also talked about the lack of participation of women in job sectors as an aftermath of education, marriage, and health. Hence, the competition will be organized to encourage women participation in various sectors.
The closing speech was delivered by Dr. M. Tanseer Ali, Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, who discussed the significance of role a woman plays in society. He concluded his talk by encouraging the female participants to be active in various sectors.
