The Department of IPE, in collaboration with the IEOM AIUB Student Chapter, recently hosted an informative and interactive workshop on "The Industrial Use of WD-40 and V-Tech". The aim of the workshop was to introduce students to the vast uses of WD-40, the variants of it available, and its significance in current global industries. A brief overview of V-Tech was also given, highlighting its uses in heat and waterproofing.
The esteemed speakers for this event were S.M Shahnur Riyasad, Assistant Manager, Marketing at Bir Group Holdings, and Md. Amzad Hossain, Manager, Business Development at Bir Group Holdings.
The workshop commenced with a warm welcome from the host, followed by an enlightening speech from the honorable Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Associate Dean, FE, AIUB, shedding light on the importance of WD-40 in an engineer's life.
Mr. S.M Shahnur Riyasad started the workshop with an informative session on the varying types of WD-40 and their specific uses, tailored to suit each task much more effectively and efficiently compared to simply using the standard WD-40 for everything. Throughout his speech, he kept the audience engaged through daily tips and tricks with WD-40, and showcasing practical examples with the help of several volunteers from the audience. Afterwards, Mr. Md. Amzad Hossain briefly explained how V-Tech heat resistance and waterproofing is done on modern rooftops and ground alike. Mr. Md. Romanuzzaman Sohel Head of HR & Administration and Mr. BM Fashiuddin Mahtab, Head of Sales & Marketing at Bir Group Holdings were also present during the workshop.
The session addressing in a comprehensive question-answer segment, where the speakers took turns to address queries from the audience. Following this, Dr. Md. Ehasanul Haque, Head, Department of IPE, FE, AIUB handed over the token of appreciation and other faculty members from the Department of IPE honored the team members of Bir Group Holdings with gift bags for conducting the insightful workshop for the students of IPE.
This workshop successfully covered the following goals out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set forth by the UN: Industry, innovation and infrastructure (SDG 9) and Responsible consumption and production (SDG 12). The students learned the correct way to use WD-40 and it's many variations for different tasks that may arise in their upcoming work lives in the engineering industry (SDG 9), all while ensuring safety for both themselves and the work at hand (SDG 12) without compromising on efficacy.
