The Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a seminar titled “Transforming Enterprises in Bangladesh through AI Integration and Strategic Operational Excellence” on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at MP Hall, Annex-7, AIUB. The event drew more than 100 BBA and MBA students from the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) to examine how Bangladeshi enterprises can leverage AI to build competitive, future-ready operations.
Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, delivered the welcome speech, underlining AIUB’s commitment to producing graduates who can lead at the intersection of technology and business.
The keynote was delivered by Mohammad Oli Ahad, Director and Chief of Operations of ACI AI Business at ACI Limited, one of Bangladesh’s largest conglomerates. With firsthand experience delivering over 60 AI models and solutions for major enterprises, including bKash, Unilever, BAT, IDLC Finance, and Telenor, Mr. Ahad structured his talk around three parts: AI already at work in Bangladesh, key conceptual frameworks, and the path ahead.
Mr. Ahad walked participants through real-world AI deployments by Bangladeshi enterprises — spanning trade marketing, hyper-personalization, equipment maintenance, financial analysis, and logistics across industries, including financial services, consumer goods, retail, and telecom — demonstrating that measurable, large-scale impact is already being achieved locally. He then drew out three key insights from these experiences: AI is general-purpose and not confined to any single sector; team readiness matters more than data readiness; and the greatest value emerges not from assigning AI specific tasks, but from listening to what it reveals — a shift that fundamentally redefines the relationship between people and machines. Looking ahead, Mr. Ahad presented a sobering picture: Bangladesh's enterprise AI adoption lags significantly behind regional and global peers, most local firms remain stuck at basic process automation while missing the higher-value layers of predictive intelligence and AI-native innovation, and sectors like RMG face mounting displacement pressure that cost-efficiency alone cannot address. Mr. Ahad called for a decisive shift — from cost efficiency to cognitive advantage, from automation to decision augmentation — and warned that Bangladesh has only a five-to-seven-year window to make this pivot before the gap becomes irreversible.
Mehzabul Hoque Nahid, Head of the Department of Business Analytics and MIS, was also present at the event. In his closing remarks and vote of thanks, Mr. Nahid expressed profound gratitude to keynote speaker Mohammad Oli Ahad for his invaluable insights into corporate efficiency. Mr. Nahid emphasized that BBA and MBA graduates majoring in Business Analytics and MIS from American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) are uniquely positioned to lead the nation’s endeavor in AI adoption. This initiative directly supports SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by fostering a tech-savvy workforce capable of driving sustainable industrialization. He concluded by offering his sincere thanks to the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), the dedicated faculty members of FBA, and the students, reaffirming AIUB’s commitment to producing leaders who will bridge the gap between technological innovation and operational excellence.
The event was organized by Tanzeem Haque, Data Infrastructure & Services Lead at ACI AI Business, ACI Limited, and Part-time Lecturer in the Department of MIS at AIUB. The Faculty of Business Administration extends its sincere appreciation to the students, whose enthusiasm and curiosity continue to inspire such initiatives.
