Initiated by the Women’s Federation for World Peace Bangladesh (WFWP-BD), Meghna Group of Industries (MGI) Presents “Youthful Roots: Planting Harmony for Tomorrow” is an initiative to inspire youth community towards Tree Planting and Mothering for a Sustainable Bangladesh relating to the SDG 13 Climate Action. This event is one of the core components of Green Fest. The American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB) hosted the event on Thursday, 13 June 2024, organized by GO Girl Limited. H.E. Mr. Rinchen Kuentsyl, Hon’ble Ambassador of Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest, Mr. Manik Mahmud, Executive Member, Smart Bangladesh Network (SBN) & Program Specialist Innovation a2i – Aspire to Innovate, Mr. Kazi Md. Mohiuddin, Senior General Manager, Brand, MGI Dhaka were present as special guests. Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Member, Board of Trustees and Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor, AIUB, were also present as the guests of honor. The event was presided over by Ms. Mehreen, President of WFWP Bangladesh. At the beginning, the dignitaries planted 3 trees that 3 AIUB Student teams, each comprising of 5 students, will be nursing and mothering for a prolonged time. Similar events are also taking place in other universities. The Honorable dignitaries were recognized as Green Leader by WFWP Bangladesh. The guests shared relevant experiences and motivational information with the faculty members, officials and students of AIUB. Each student group will mother and nurse their designated tree, which will be monitored and evaluated over the upcoming period by an advisory board. At the end, successful student groups will be recognized as Youth Green Leaders and will be awarded. Thus, the event ensures social awareness on green environment by the engagement of youth community.
Background of the Event: Women’s Federation for World Peace Bangladesh (WFWP-BD) has introduced GREEN FEST on July 30, 2023, which is a yearly basis agenda with a primary objective to build awareness on Green Environment, Safe Living Standards and Impact of Green on Human Qualities for youth with a sustainable objective to create Green Economy and Green Ecosystem in Bangladesh. “Youthful Roots: Planting Harmony for Tomorrow” is one of the core action plans of GREEN FEST 2023. Objectives of the event is to raise the awareness of Green and Safe Environment with a prolonged sustainable impact through planting and mothering trees by engaging dynamic youth power, learn the importance of green skills for ensuring a green economy, green ecosystem and green mind in Bangladesh for a better future.
