AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES) organized a seminar, titled “Project & Thesis: Inception and Impact – an alumni experience” at Room no. 266, Building 2, Faculty of Engineering, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). Motive of this seminar was to share experience and to provide information on project and thesis to the students. Two alumni of EEE Department, Mr. Md. Arif Abdulla Samy (Lecturer, Prime Asia University and also The Vice Chancellor’s award winner for the best “Design Project” from Bachelor of Science in EEE at the 15th convocation of AIUB) and Mr. Sadi Mahmud (One of the top nine undergraduate project and thesis group of the year 2014) were the guest speakers. Mr. Ebad Zahir (Assistant Professor & Special Assistant, Department of EEE, AIUB) gave the starting speech and in his speech, he emphasized on how much project & thesis is important for a student and then discussed the necessary steps that are required to be taken while choosing and performing a project and thesis.
Md. Arif Abdulla Samy started his speech by playing a trick to grab the attention of the audience. He spoke about the initial ideas that came to his mind while selecting the topic for the project. He gave justification why he chose to do project over thesis and also discussed all the pros and cons of project and thesis. He then added how to work on project, thesis, and important topics that needs to be remembered during the timeline, possible problems to be faced, and their solutions. He also shared his experience of his own project and explained why his “Design Project” was different from others. He finished his speech by mentioning all the successes and accreditations that he received for his project from various sources. Sadi Mahmud began his speech with some amusing jokes and then discussed about choosing the correct project partners and also finding the right project to work on. He gave emphasis on time management and advised everyone not to start the project on the eleventh hour. He also shared the experience of his own project and explained why it got him the success. Later he finished his speech by providing some useful contact numbers of electrical and electronic shops as well as some useful website links which will help everyone while working on a project.
Mr. Saniat Rahman Zishan (Assistant Professor, Department of EEE & Special Assistant, OSA, AIUB), Mr. Chowdhury Akram Hossain (Assistant Professor, Department of EEE & Special Assistant, OSA, AIUB), Mr. Sayed Muhammad Baker (Lecturer, Department of EEE, AIUB) and Ms. Shahreen Hassan (Lecturer, Department of EEE, AIUB) graced the seminar with their presence. At the end of the seminar, Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan (Head, Undergraduate Program, Department of EEE, AIUB) shared a short speech on the benefits of such seminars and handed over gift vouchers & certificates to the speakers as a symbol of gratitude. Then the effective seminar came to an end with a vote of thanks to the speakers and AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES).
