The ICPC Asia West Continental Finals 2025, organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology, was held on 7–8 March 2026. Team AIUB_Modularity from American International University-Bangladesh delivered an outstanding performance, securing 3rd position in Bangladesh and 35th place overall.
The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), widely regarded as the “Olympics of Computer Programming,” is one of the largest and most prestigious programming competitions in the world. It provides students with a platform to enhance their analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and technical expertise.
In the Asia West Continental Finals, Team AIUB_Modularity ranked just behind teams from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). The team outperformed participants from several leading institutions, including Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), University of Dhaka (DU), University of Chittagong (CU), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), and Jahangirnagar University (JU), as well as all participating private universities such as BRAC University, Daffodil International University, and East West University.
Notably, the team surpassed 21 teams from India, including eight from IITs, and outperformed all participating teams from Pakistan. Earlier, at the ICPC Dhaka Regional Onsite Contest 2025, AIUB_Modularity ranked 20th, earning qualification for the Asia West Continental Finals.
The members of Team AIUB_Modularity are Faisal Amin Abir (BSc CSE), Shamin Yasser (BSc CSE), and Ahnaf Tanvir Tasin (BSc CSE). Their achievement marks one of AIUB’s most notable successes in ICPC in recent times and reflects the university’s growing strength in competitive programming.
The team was coached by Israfil Diganta and Abdullah Al Rawaha Anik, ACM ICPC Trainers at AIUB. They were mentored by Abhijit Bhowmik, Associate Professor and Special Assistant (OSA), and Md. Al-Amin, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, AIUB.
Over the years, the Department of Computer Science at AIUB has demonstrated consistent progress, with its programming teams achieving strong results in national and international competitions. The department continues to emphasize structured training, mentoring, and internal programming contests to cultivate students’ problem-solving capabilities.
The ICPC Asia Regional Contests annually bring together students from across Asia to foster collaboration, friendship, and fair competition in programming. The ICPC Foundation serves as the global sponsor of the event, while JetBrains is the global programming tools sponsor.
Overall, the ICPC Asia West Continental Finals 2025 highlighted the exceptional talent and dedication of participants. The remarkable performance of Team AIUB_Modularity stands as a testament to AIUB’s commitment to excellence in programming and innovation.
