“Hands-on Hospitality: A Culinary Experience by THM Students”

An event entitled “Hands-on Hospitality: A Culinary Experience by THM Students” was organized by the students of Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management of Faculty of Business Administration of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

The event took place in the THM Multipurpose Lab of Annex 7. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Member, AIUB Board of Trustees, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). The event was also graced by the presence of Ms. Nadia Anwar, Chairman and Founder Member, Board of Trustees, AIUB; Mr. Ishtiaque Abedin, Founder Member, Board of Trustees, AIUB; Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. Anwar Hossain, Advisor and Dean-in-Charge, FBA.

Students also invited all faculty members of the department of marketing, a good number of faculty members of Faculty of business administration, all members of FBA Management Team, members of the AIUB Management and other key officials of AIUB Management to attend the event.

On behalf of students of the department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, a total of eight students formed a team to organize the event successfully. Ms. Tasnim Binte Taher; Ms. Sharah Mehjabin Anchal, and Ms. Nabiha Mahnoor Ahmad were responsible for cooking different dishes. Ms. Fazilatun Nesa Rodshi was given responsibility to welcome and greet guests at the front desk and performed responsibility to serve VIP guests. Food was served to the guests by Mr. Md. Sajibur Rahman, Mr. Md. Tarekuzzaman. Ms. Tasnim Chaklader Lia and Mr. Md. Naimul Islam Naim. Mr. Fardin Md. Riad Hossain played the role of “Photographer”.  

The performances of the students demonstrated creativity and skill, as they presented dishes and provided exemplary table service. The guests led by AIUB Top Management attended the event and appreciated the students a lot. Respected faculty members and administrative officials also participated in the event, encouraging the teams in their endeavors. The guests tasted the food, observed the students' service, table setups firsthand, and expressed high satisfaction with the event's theme, food quality, presentation, and service. Ms. Sharmin Sultana, Assistant Professor, and Mr. Mahmudul Hasan, Lecturer of Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management guided the students to make the event successful.

The objective of organizing this event was in line with key sustainable goals (SDG) of the United Nations “Quality Education” and “Responsible Consumption and Production” The focus of the Department of Tourism and hospitality management on organizing this type of event reflects AIUB's commitment to excellence in education and its dedication to nurturing future professionals in the domain of tourism and hospitality management.

The program was planned and coordinated by Prof. Dr. Partha P. Chowdhury, Chartered Marketer (UK), Head, Department of Marketing, Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM), & International Business whereas Dr. Rezbin Nahar, Director, BBA Program was present in the event throughout the day in order to supervise and guide the students to make the event exciting, enjoyable, and successful. The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, FBA expresses sincere appreciation for all administrative and logistical support received from AIUB Management.
