On 7th April, 2016, IEEE AIUB Student Branch organized a workshop on Genuino, to celebrate “Genuino Day 2016”, at room 266, Faculty of Engineering building, AIUB. Genuino is a microcontroller based programmable device, which makes it one of the most versatile electronic devices ever made. The workshop was organized to introduce the 1st year engineering students to the amazing features and capabilities of the Genuino.
The event started with the opening remarks from the instructor Mr. Kazi Ahmed Asif Fuad, Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB & Advisor, IEEE IAS AIUB Student Branch Chapter. Then he went on to talk about numerous topics regarding the Genuino, which included an interactive session on the goals of the workshop and how to use the Genuino. Later he delved deeper into the different aspects of the device, including an overview of the hardware, the protocols of Genuino, the numerous sensors, which can be used, and an overview of how to program the device.
The participants where then guided through the process of implementing a circuit using the knowledge they have had acquired in the workshop. The participants were divided into groups of 5 members each. Each group was supplied with the necessary parts to construct a distance measurement device, using an ultrasound sensor.
Dr. M. Tanseer Ali, Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch & Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; then delivered an inspirational speech, urging the participants to apply their newly gained knowledge. Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Vice Chair, IEEE YP Bangladesh Section & Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; then presented the instructor a token of appreciation, on behalf of IEEE AIUB Student Branch.
The event was blessed with the presence of Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Sidiqque Hossain, Honorable Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. Mr. Safayet Ahmed Siddique, Teaching Assistant, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB and Mr. Nasim Al Islam, Chair, IEEE MTTS AIUB Student Branch Chapter; Treasurer IEEE YP Bangladesh Section & Teaching Assistant, Faculty of Engineering, along with 60 IEEE AIUB Student Branch members participated in this workshop.
