The Department of Management Information Systems and the Department of Management, AIUB, co-hosted a formal event titled “Poster Contents on SWOT Dive into Sustainable Business”. The academic gathering took place on September 2, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM, at the Multipurpose Hall, Annex-7, AIUB Campus. The event’s participants were drawn from the students enrolled in “Foundation course,” “Introduction to Information technology,” and “Ethics, Sustainability, And Communication for Development”.

The primary activity of the event was for students to present their posters to a panel of judges, faculty, and guests and to provide detailed explanations of the contents. This teaching-learning strategy was essential to assess how well the students understood the material and how effectively they could turn complex ideas into clear visual and spoken presentations. A subsequent prize-giving ceremony officially concluded the event's proceedings, recognizing the exceptional quality of the student work. The opening remarks were delivered by Mehzabul Hoque Nahid, the head of the Department of MIS, to commence the ceremony. He said that these hands-on projects were crucial in teaching because they helped students connect what they learned in theory to real-life situations. Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB, offered more details about the competition's formal structure in his Special Remarks. Professor Rahman stated that the poster contest was intentionally constructed as a pedagogical instrument that encouraged students to transcend inert memorization (remembering) of content. He explained that this practical, hands-on method got students involved in understanding, using, analyzing, evaluating, and creating information, which is a sensible way to help them develop higher-level thinking skills. He asserted that this comprehensive intellectual activation aligned perfectly with the established objectives of contemporary education, which aimed to cultivate critical thinkers and problem-solvers equipped with the necessary intellectual agility to tackle and resolve complex issues like sustainability. Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor of AIUB, delivered his potent special remarks in continuation of the esteemed addresses. He commenced by expressing his personal appreciation for the commitment of all participants and subsequently congratulating the victors on their accomplishments. Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam subsequently transitioned to motivate the entire assembly, emphasizing that not everyone emerges victorious. He emphasized that it is the voyage

of our lives in which we acquire a wealth of knowledge from participating in such contests, where students effectively incorporate theoretical knowledge with practical presentation skills. He also stated that the act of creating a poster for a sustainable business contest necessitates students to analyze a business environment and identify its strengths and weaknesses. He described the event as an analytical exercise that is a must-have for business graduates in order to enhance their employability. The formal proceedings concluded with the Vote of Thanks, which was delivered by Professor Dr. Anwar Hossain, Advisor and Dean in-Charge, FBA, AIUB, following these inspirational remarks. Professor Dr. Anwar Hossain expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all the distinguished dignitaries, faculty members, and student participants. It is of the utmost importance that he expresses his gratitude to the sponsor, Mr. Fardeen Hossain, Marketing Manager of MSI-Bangladesh. Finally, he applauded the faculty's dedication to the organization of such high-impact experiential learning events in all future academic terms.

Among the distinguished faculty members present at the event were Dr. Rezbin Nahar, Director of the BBA program-AIUB, Mr. Mohammad Baijed and Mr. Khandakar Tahurul Islam from the Department of MIS, FBA, Ms. Tamanna Nazneen Rahman from the Department of Management and HRM, FBA, AIUB, and Ms. Farzan Mitu from the Department of Marketing, FBA, AIUB. The event, through its focus on applying analytical tools like SWOT to real-world sustainability issues, made a demonstrable contribution toward realizing several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By requiring students to analyze business practices and develop strategies for sustainable operations, the contest directly supported SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by fostering the development of business graduates who understand how to promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth. Furthermore, the event’s core theme ON “SWOT” inherently contributed to SDG 4: Quality Education by moving beyond rote learning and promoting a practical, application-based pedagogy essential for developing globally aware, critical thinkers. Finally, the topics explored, which centered on embedding sustainability into business models, provided tangible connections to SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, as students proposed viable business solutions aimed at promoting resource efficiency and reducing waste.
