The Department of Management Information Systems and the Department of Business Analytics, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), successfully hosted a thought-provoking seminar titled " Transforming Customer Service Data into Sales Intelligence" for BBA students and faculties from the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA). The event, held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Multipurpose Hall, Annex-7, AIUB Campus, provided a compelling and detailed exploration of the evolving dynamics of data-driven business. The seminar commenced with opening remarks by Professor Dr. Anwar Hossain, Advisor and Dean-in-Charge of the FBA, who highlighted the critical importance of adopting technology for modern business and learning to utilize AI for business students as future graduates. The speaker set the stage for the distinguished resource person, Tushar Islam, CEO of cliQnpay and Managing Director of Pick&Pay Superstore and DaPurples. Mr. Islam began his discussion by sharing the foundational experiences from his graduation journey in International Business, Supply Chain Management, and Data Architecture at Haaga-Helia and Laurea University of Applied Sciences. He shared how these studies, coupled with his early entrepreneurial ventures in Finland across retail, trading, the food industry, and forex, had built a strong grounding in structured European business practices and a global mindset. Mr. Islam described his return to Bangladesh in 2010, motivated by a clear mission to leverage his international experience to build impactful local ventures. He successfully founded and scaled various businesses in retail, real estate, fashion, and education, a testament to his commitment to creating employment, modernizing traditional industries, and introducing tech-driven solutions. He further detailed his subsequent expansion into the United States, where he focused on technology and fintech, and his establishment of a presence in the Middle East with real estate and technology platforms. His presentation then took on the core themes of the seminar, including "Connected Retail" and "A New Rule of Connected Economy," and explained the essential components, what, when, and how, of a connected economy. He talked about the big problems that make this change difficult, like people sticking to old ways of thinking, missing important infrastructure for shipping and delivery, worries about data privacy, and the challenges of working together between retail, tech, and telecom industries. These points offered an in-depth assessment of the hurdles and opportunities present in the modern market.
To demonstrate the real-world application of these concepts, Mr. Islam presented a case study of his company, cliQnpay, which served as a prime example of a local venture that successfully integrated grocery retail, payments, and loyalty programs. He detailed how this partnership model for stores was designed to link daily customer transactions to larger asset ownership, showcasing how the connected economy could profoundly transform traditional retail. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor, AIUB, who expressed his sincere appreciation to the resource person for his insightful and inspiring presentation. The seminar’s presenters were students ILMA RAHMAN and JEMIM ARABIA from the Department of Management Information Systems (MIS), BBA, AIUB. The event was organized by the Department of MIS, FBA, and AIUB and was coordinated by Mehzabul Hoque Nahid, Head of the Department of MIS and Business Analytics.
