The Proud First Batch of International Business Students

Since its inception from last summer, this is the first time the students got the opportunity to get a practical knowledge related to two of their IB Major courses. It was a partial fulfillment of their course requirement. The students visited Filanto Bangladesh Footwear (FB) which is an Italian shoe manufacturing company having their production unit at Shafipur, Bangladesh. They got a practical experience about how raw materials are converted into export quality finished goods by a series of process and the way management monitors, audits, and controls all the operations. They also observed the way finished goods are moved from production floor to the packaging unit and later to the warehouse. They talked with the employees about their work environment and also the benefits provided by the company. The owner of the company was asked several questions and he cleared all the points. They also talked about the rules and regulations of the company and found that it maintains the code of ethics. Moreover, the students observed the technology and the machines used in a globally recognized factory about which they only read in books. The organization also provided the group with a rest house to ease all the visitors in the scorching heat. Finally the team got back to their destination (AIUB, campus 1) with proper security. IB students enjoyed the day with their hearts content. Hopefully more of such trips will be organized in the future as it is very effective. Lastly, on behalf of the department, we would like to show our heartiest gratitude to the University Management and VC Madam for making the trip as smooth as silk with a touch of discipline.
