Power Engineering

Power Engineering is one of the earliest fields that has developed within Electrical Engineering. It deals with generation, transmission and distribution of electric power. Power engineers also work on a variety of power devices and on power conversion.

Many power engineers are part of the large team that builds, maintains and develops the large networks that connects power generators with users of this power ("the power grid"). These engineers, who work for power utility companies of governments that maintain power grids design components for the grid, architectures for the grid and devices that either supply power to the grid or draw power from it. Devices that power engineers design and work with include generators, transformers, circuit breakers, relays and transmission lines.

Power System Protection lab:

Protective relaying plays a vital role in detecting a fault or disturbance in power systems and in isolating local parts of the network in a timely fashion. Proper operation of the protective relays avoids damage to the utility equipment, reduces electricity interruptions, and also minimizes hazards. Because of the importance of protective relaying, the theories of protecting a power system are usually introduced to electrical engineering students within or power system protection course. Future engineers must have knowledge that goes beyond more theory as Power System Protection. Laboratory experiments play a vital role in improving the learning experience of students and are very useful for educational purposes, so improvements in this area of education are important. When working in the power system protection laboratories.
