Cross-Sectoral Dialogue about SDGs Initiated and Participated by AIUB

American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) strategically leverages its position and state-of-the-art facilities to initiate and participate in high-impact cross-sectoral dialogue about the SDGs. The university's 2024 activities show it acting as a key convener, creating a neutral and effective platform where academia, government, NGOs, and private industry can converge to co-create solutions. AIUB proactively hosts and organizes major conferences, workshops, and seminars, placing itself at the center of national conversations on critical SDG-related issues. For example, by hosting a seminar with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Government of Bangladesh's Department of Environment, AIUB facilitated dialogue on sustainable industrial practices (SDG 9, SDG 13). Similarly, the university-initiated policy engagement workshops on climate-smart agriculture, bringing together international partners like the World Bank, government bodies like the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), and academic consortiums. AIUB also fosters crucial public-private dialogue by hosting events with the Dhaka Chamber & Commerce Industry (DCCI) and global tech leaders like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Cisco. This role as a facilitator extends to justice and security, demonstrated by hosting a dialogue with Tourist Police Bangladesh and the 8th Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, which involved the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These initiatives underscore AIUB's commitment to SDG 17, providing the essential collaborative spaces needed to advance innovation (SDG 9), climate action (SDG 13), and strong institutions (SDG 16).
