- Public resources (lifelong learning)
- Provide free access to educational resources for those not studying at the university.
- Free courses leading to certificate or award
- Free access to campus facilities and equipment
- Free access to online resources
AIUB continues to expand free and low-barrier educational resources that serve learners beyond enrolled students. The university’s departments routinely publish slide decks, reading packs, and curated link lists from workshops and seminars (for example the research writing and grant-proposal workshops), enabling independent learners to access core materials online. Initiatives such as the sustainability project and translation workshops have produced practical documentation and recommended open tools that community members and practitioners can reuse; the sustainability project explicitly shared lab summaries and replication notes as public learning artifacts. Departments also coordinate with campus bodies, Institute of Continuing Education and the Learning Development Center, to offer scheduled short courses, career guides and recorded sessions that lead to participation certificates without degree enrollment. The placement office and partner organizations regularly point external learners to campus labs and library resources on request, and student clubs frequently provide open tutorials and recorded sessions (e.g., programming and research writing clinics). Taken together, these efforts provide free courses leading to certificates or awards in many cases, free access to online teaching materials, and pathways to use select campus facilities and equipment for community projects when feasible. The approach prioritizes inclusivity and practical skill development: materials and event write-ups are indexed on the AIUB site, and many workshops are intentionally repeatable or scheduled on a programmed basis so that non-students can plan attendance. This blend of open digital resources, occasional facility access and certificate-linked short courses strengthens AIUB’s role as a lifelong-learning hub for the wider public.

Events and Activities:
Bridging the Gap: Preparing the Next Generation for Higher Education and Beyond, Insights from AIUB Chairman
This public talk highlighted AI literacy, project-based learning and school–university linkages, and pointed attendees (students, teachers, parents) to curated reading lists and online guides produced after the session. Contact points for campus labs and the learning-development team were shared so non-students can request resource packs or join recorded seminars. The session deliberately aimed to make guidance and preparatory materials available for the broader public and prospective learners, enabling practical, low-barrier study preparation outside regular enrolment.

Seminar: Financial Literacy & Career Workshop (OPA & FBA with Shanta Asset Management)
This open seminar combined practical personal-finance modules with a resource pack (slides, readings, budgeting templates) posted for public download after the event. Attendees, students and community members, received certificates, and the placement office provided links to free online financial courses and campus library pages. The resources were designed so non-students can follow up independently, fulfilling the aim of offering free educational materials that support financial capability outside degree programs.

Workshop: “First Steps in Research: Research Paper Writing for Beginners” (AIUB Computer Club / CETL)
This beginner workshop supplied slide decks, sample templates and a reference list of freely available research tools (Google Scholar, ResearchGate, Elicit) and published them for public access. The hands-on session and follow-up materials enable self-directed learners to practise academic writing without formal enrolment, and the department indicated future recorded sessions so external participants can use them as ongoing resources. Participants received attendance certificates and guidance on free online investigation tools.

Workshop: “A Systematic Guide on Planning and Writing Fundamental Research Grant Proposals”
This capacity-building workshop shared a public proposal template, sample budgets and checklists for applicants. AIUB circulated the materials online so external researchers and practitioners can reuse them; the facilitating faculty also listed open funder portals and best-practice resources. The availability of these practical documents supports independent learning and project design outside the degree pathway, serving as free technical resource material for community researchers and NGOs.

AIUB Sustainability Project: LDPE Recycling for 3D Filament (QS Reimagine shortlisting)
The sustainability project published summary notes and lab procedures as teaching artifacts to encourage replication. By making project outputs and process notes available online, AIUB enabled public reuse of applied research materials — a practical resource supporting vocational makers and community workshops in sustainability and low-cost fabrication. These accessible outputs act as an educational resource beyond campus and are suitable for self-study or community makerspaces.

Language Fiesta 2024: curated reading lists & resources
Beyond performances, the Department of English compiled language-learning reading lists, recommended online exercises and a short resource pack shared after the festival. These materials were posted for public access and targeted teachers, community learners and hobbyists seeking free language practice and cultural learning guides. The festival’s public resources helped attendees continue learning independently and signposted further campus language supports.
